Psychologist specialising in Substance Use, Anxiety, and Traumatic Brain Injury

đź“Ť Mount Lawley

With nearly two decades of experience as both a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist, I have honed my skills in a broad spectrum of evidence-based assessments and interventions. My approach is often described as warm, understanding, and highly collaborative. My primary aim is to provide a secure and non-judgmental space where you can momentarily set aside daily stresses and focus intently on your personal growth. Together, we'll explore your therapeutic goals and develop a tailored plan to achieve them.

If you find yourself feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or in conflict with others or within yourself, therapy might be the next step for you. Through therapeutic sessions, we can gain insights into your challenges, foster a deeper understanding of yourself, and discover the strategies and motivation necessary for positive change. Whether it's navigating life's ups and downs or addressing specific mental health concerns, I am here to support and guide you through your journey.

Specialisation

Over the years, I have cultivated extensive experience and a keen interest in treating drug and alcohol dependency, managing anxiety disorders, stress management, and building resilience. My background in Clinical Neuropsychology allows me to offer comprehensive assessments and treatment plans for conditions such as traumatic brain injuries, dementia, and adult ADHD. My research into the effects of substances on brain function uniquely positions me to assist those recovering from addiction.

Therapeutic Approaches

I employ a variety of therapeutic techniques tailored to meet the specific needs of each client. My work is grounded in evidence-based practices, ensuring that the interventions not only address the symptoms but also the root causes of your concerns.

Qualifications and Experience

I have been practising for almost 20 years across various settings, including outpatient services and the tertiary education sector. I currently serve as the Chair of the APS National College of Clinical Neuropsychology and have previously served as the WA state chair for four years. I am also involved in academia as a casual lecturer at the University of Western Australia’s School of Psychology and a clinical supervisor at Murdoch University’s Psychology Clinic and Next Step/Drug and Alcohol Youth Service.

When I'm not immersed in my clinical work, I provide supervision and consultancy services to registrars and fellow clinicians. Feel free to reach out if you are interested in supervision or would like to discuss how therapy can benefit you.

Very chatty and approachable. Didn't pick up many life lessons from him though.
